Heath Slocum (General Slocum as we like to call him here) won the Barclays championship this weekend, holding off a tough charge from Tiger Woods. He made a tough putt on the last hole, from 20 feet out to finish at par. This is to say that he ended up with a 9-under total of 275. Just a little while ago, it wasn’t even clear that Slocum would be competing in this year’s tournament, but he was just able to get in. This seems to be a big theme this year, with a lot of different players winning despite the low expectations that observers had had up until that point. But they will be working their way forwards, hoping to get another chance to beat big Tiger. Tiger, meanwhile, keeps trying to win, but has been struggling mightily in tournaments all this time.
