American golfers have something to brag about this year at their favorite course. The American team won the Ryder Cup 2008 over the Europeans. Though both sides showed great strengths, the American team was a tad better and was able to pull off the win. Either way, both team gave fans a great showing. Anthony Kim, one of the American players made a great showing, helping the Americans get their well deserved victory.
Making English mandatory for the LPGA players was not the best idea. And it’s doubtful anyone got a promotion for it. It’s really hard to figure out what the think tanks were trying to do with such a ruling. Yes, there are players that do not speak English, but they have translators. Plus, the focus should be on the game of golf, not speaking ability. This new provision has created nothing but controversy regarding the LPGA’s governing body.
The Ryder Cup is upon us again. It will be exciting to see the action unfold between Europe and American golf players. Bringing this question, who is better at golf? And does the Ryder Cup help establish that? After all, this is a friendly rivalry but there must by some pressure on each team from their corresponding countries. Still, to get hung up on who is better seems to take away from sport, any sport from that matter. Obviously, the players that are at the Ryder Cup must have qualifications, otherwise they would not be playing.
