The Irishman Padraig Harrington has been on a roll recently after winning two majors in last 5 weeks. He is a strong contender for winning the precious player of the year award for which the players vote. He faces competition from Tiger Woods who won four of the first six tournaments and then the US Open title in sudden death. Harrington will now be playing in Barclays Tournament and Fed-Ex Cup Playoffs. He is currently fourth in the money list and a successful Fed-Ex Cup would get him to the top. Harrington said that it would be an honor to win the best player award but he was not letting that element distract his game.

Viking Classic is a golf tournament on the PGA tour. It is played every year in Madison, Mississippi. The tournament has a rich history. Garcia unlucky

Sergio Garcia suffered another setback when he let the US PGA Championship slip from his grasp into Padraig Harrington’s hands. Sergio had played well throughout the course but Harrington snatched the victory in the last stages of the course.  Sergio believes that it has been rather unfortunate not to win even a single major till now despite giving some splendid performances. He said that others were sometime more luckier than him and had situations favoring their play. He was doing his best and it was about time that he stepped up his game a notch higher and probably won a major. He is looking forward to playing in the Ryder Cup and help Europe defend the title.

Harrington wins the PGA Championship title

The Irish man Padraig Harrington became the first European in 78 years to win the PGA Championship title on Sunday as he overcame a three shot deficit to claim the title in Michigan. Harrington kept him nerves till the very end and putted a ten foot birdie on the 17th hole and also shot a 15-footer at par on the 18th hole to snatch the victory from Ben Curtis and Sergio Garcia.  Harrington is over the moon after winning the PGA Championship. Vijay Singh did himself proud by winning the $ 8 million Bridgestone Invitational PGA tournament last Sunday and is one of the most successful non American golfers to win tournaments in the PGA tour history. Singh’s performance was really below par on the final day, but came up with brilliant at par putts at the final two holes to seal the victory from close by rivals Mickelson and Retief Goosen. Vijay Singh said that he was pretty pleased to win this tournament and hoped for many more laurels to come his way this season. Bruce Vaughan had to hit a 20 foot putt in the first playoff hole against John Cook to claim the first title of his career, the senior British Open, on Sunday.
