Stewart Cink came up with excellent golfing skills in the final day of the Travelers Championships to lift the title with a score of 18 under and thereby gained third place in the Fed Ex golf standing behind leader Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson. The victory at Travelers Championship was a close one as he bet his rival title contenders Armour III and Mahan by just one stroke. This win will also improve the PGA golf rankings of Cink and he would move to the sixth position in the world ranking. Cink was very happy to win this close contest and is expecting to perform well in the upcoming Ryder Cup tournament as well. The tickets to the Ryder Cup golf championships are currently on sale.

Tiger Woods to miss rest of 2008 season

The world number one golf player Tiger Woods will not be taking part in any tournaments for the rest of the 2008 season due to a torn ligament in his left knee that requires corrective surgery. Woods, after winning the US Open title, revealed that he was suffering from the injury for the past ten months and it got severe in the past three weeks with a double stress facture. Tiger said that it is important on his part to seek medical advice at least now and will be back in action only after completely recuperating from the knee injury. Tiger Woods fans are a little disappointed following this announcement. The Ryder Cup is just round the corner and the fans are sure to but tickets to watch the golfing stars in action. 

Dixon wins his first PGA European tournament

David Dixon was over the moon when he won his first PGA European tournament last week at the Saint Omer Open in France. He came up trumps by one shot to win the tournament by 5-under 279 against the 2nd placed Swede Christian Nilsson. Dixon said that he thoroughly enjoyed playing golf across Europe and was thrilled to bits to win this tournament. The English player, ranked 713th in the world, showcased his best golf skills on the final day and was appreciated by the crowd that gathered around the golf course. The English fans will be surely buying tickets to watch Dixon play in future tournaments.

Tiger Woods to test his knees at U.S Open

Tiger Woods, who had recently undergone a surgery on his left knee, is all set to take to the golf course once again at the U.S Open. Tiger Woods has not played golf since the Masters in April and is ready to test his knee for the full stretch of 18 holes. He was in full flow during the nine-hole practice rounds and is fully confident that his knee will hold good for the entire tournament. Woods will be seeking his third U.S Open title of his career and has not won it since 2002. Woods fans are hoping that the money they spent on the tickets will be worth every penny spent.

Yani Tseng wins LPGA championship in her rookie year

Yani Tseng got her name etched in the golf record books as she became the youngest player in the history of the game to win a LPGA championship when she overcame the stiff challenge of Maria Hjorth in the sudden death playoff last Sunday. This is the rookie year for the 19 year old Tseng and she had to wade off the challenges of number one player Lorena Ochoa on her way to the playoffs. Tseng is very much excited about winning the LPGA championship in her rookie year and attributed her success to her deep concentration and determination. His score of 3 under 69 led him to win this tournament. This will encourage him to perform well during the Ryder Cup. His score at the Memorial was recorded as the highest in 23 years.

St. Jude Championship starts on June 2
